PhD candidate in Creative Writing and Comparative literature
Bernard is a writer, editor, and educator, as well a PhD candidate in Comparative Literature and Creative Writing, with seven years experience as an editor, mostly with literary forms and mostly with literary magazines, as well as a few—four—years teaching in higher education. Bernard is openly autistic, or as they prefer, an autist. Scholarly interests focus on race through the lens of American slavery as cultural trauma, as well as gender and disability. Craft specialties include first person narration in fiction as well as episodic forms in both fiction and memoir.
