Justin Interview: Barriers

Tiffany:

Thank you. That's a great answer. And I understand where you're coming from. So when you get in, then how could, how does the barriers for being an entrepreneur misfit be interesting, but even with getting clients the way work is done now, just, you know, the way I you know, we feel like it's not working, I guess you could say for our populations, but what are the barriers to the way the workplace is set up now and runs? Do you find because of your identities?


Justin:

Again, maybe part of my identity is, okay, do I do I let's say plumbing wise, now you can tell the faucet to turn on and fill it up to a certain extent what I've adjusted well enough. I mean, I am computer literate and I know how to use Word, Excel, et cetera, et cetera. But like I started with this conversation before, I'm not that good in front of a camera. I'm so sorry. Sometimes I'll lose my train of thought. It's just, it's how it happens.


Tiffany:

So we're talking about, you know, when you're going to get work and, and the current way businesses work, how you, how those things get in the way, like, how does the current environment Don adjust to you?


Justin:

I think I, I, I basically, I think I conform a little bit slower. I measure it too much and say, well, this really benefit me. Do I need to do this? I'm not a Twitter guy. Do I, should I be Twitter? And should, if I'm trying to run my own company now having to do with being on the spectrum, I'm not Twittering. I don't want to Facebook right now and I'm not gaining clients. So I have to either get through those issues in my head and say, well, get over the fact that you're not dealing with Facebook right now, because it can make you successful. So here I'm admitting to you, you know, some things that right now are probably holding me back and I gotta get over that. So I guess that is a barrier of some sort, it's my mind battling what I think I should be doing or shouldn't be doing. And my issues with Facebook, Twitter, it's just unfamiliarity. Facebook was more of those privacy issues, Cambridge Analytica and all that stuff. And I got out a few years ago. So I guess I hope that answers your question. Well, enough, that to me is a barrier.


Tiffany:

It's a barrier. Well, it just says another entrepreneur, those things that go on on all our heads, like I gotta be here, I gotta be there. And you're just like, Oh, I gotta be everywhere. And it's very challenging to figure out where to put your energy. So I'm not sure if that's so much your, your Asperger's or just, you know, it's a bit overwhelming, I think, with the different avenues to communicate with people. So you’re not alone there.


Justin:

It is, and here's the, I guess it's also, to me, I guess, you know, slightly impulsive, maybe it, it I've learned how to, you don't want to be, and you don't want to act or react impulsively. You want to think it out a little bit. And so doing it, having access to those might also say, okay, you know, text something and maybe I should. And so I have to learn, I guess, internal controls that if I do do that not to be reactionary and sit back and measure your risk, my response because I'm the kind of person that I can approach anybody and talk to anybody about anything. And sometimes that's not the right thing to do.


Tiffany:

Oh. And that is so insightful that you understand that. I think there's a lot of people with the impulsivity that don't realize that, and they burn bridges. And especially from a professional environment, you can really cause some damage. So I applaud that because it's a really big issue.


Justin:

Sure, sure. It can't be impulsivity these days. It's cause you just want yourself to be heard, but you know, it's better to keep your mouth closed and be thoughtful than to open it up and be proven a fool. And so kind of take that attitude as well. Yeah.


Tiffany:

Well, I appreciate that. And I think we're working in a place we're all very passionate about and passion always leads to extra emotion. So it's, it's even more challenging, too. So thank you.


Justin:
